Pain Management In Az

Our pain management specialists at Flagstaff Bone & Joint specialize in providing care for those suffering from acute and chronic pain.

Involving specialized procedures to treat and manage chronic pain, pain management is an area of specialty that helps patients who suffer ongoing discomfort from conditions and disorders, such as chronic low back pain, neck pain, complex regional pain syndrome, or muscle and bone pain.

The practice of pain management uses an array of treatment methods for chronic pain because the pain experienced can vary from mild to excruciating, episodic to continuous, and be inconvenient to completely incapacitating.

At Flagstaff Bone & Joint, our pain management doctors understand that chronic pain forces you to live an adjusted and restrained lifestyle. Our pain management specialists will work with you to assess your condition and develop a treatment plan specific to your needs.

Surgical Care

The surgical care for spine conditions is provided by board-certified, fellowship-trained physician Eamonn Mahoney, M.D. At our Spine and Pain Center in Flagstaff, we offer a range of therapies that are unique to your condition.

Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery (MISS)

Most spine-related injuries and disorders can be effectively treated without surgery, often times through interventional (non-surgical) pain care.  If surgery is needed, our surgeons use advanced methods that will reduce trauma to the tissues, reduce pain, provide quicker recovery times and allow for a faster return to work or activities. Minimally invasive surgeries have incisions that are less than an inch long (instead of three inches) so there is less blood loss, less tissue disruption, smaller scars, and a less painful recovery.

Non-Surgical Spine Care

The non-surgical spine care team treats patients who need extra attention pinpointing the source of their pain, usually by focusing on the nerves. PM&R is short for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, a sub-specialty focused on treating a wide range of nerve and muscle conditions, injuries, illnesses and disorders, including pain management. The medical team accurately pinpoints the cause of the pain then determines a treatment plan with therapies to restore function and quality of life. The goal is to decrease pain and improve the performance of your daily functions, without surgery.

Injection Therapy

Injection therapy, often offered by both surgical and non-surgical teams, can be prescribed for diagnostic (investigating the problem) and therapeutic (treating the problem) reasons.
